2015 Vauxhall Corsa intermittent jamming when changing gear. have to switch engine off to get back in to gear.

After about 3 years with no problem, suddenly unable to change gear, stick jammed. Had to pull up. Only way I could get car back in gear was to switch engine off and restart. Same problem occurred twice more in next 5 miles. Took car in to Vx'hall dealer who couldn't find problem and car ran okay for months before same problem happened again 2 or 3 times. Then ran fine but I took car into Vxll dealerslwho kept car and drove it 80 miles without problem showing.
I've since had them check problem again (twice) and when having MOT last week but again it didn't show and no problem found.
Now the problems returned and seems more frquent. I sense too when depressing clutch that a problem is imminent. I've booked car in for investigation again in a few weeks time (the earliest I can get it in), but I'm not confident they'll find cause. S@ds law says it'll behave itself when with them. Is there anything they might have overlooked causing this? Because it's intermittent, I sympathise with mechanic being unable to see where problem is. This has happened on short journeys and longer ones and is a serious problem which so far seems beyond diagnosis. It has happened in every gear, including reverse.

If Vauxhall dealership have had it umpteen times , carried out an 80 mile road test and being intermittent , not a lot I can suggest that they will not have already checked ,POSSIBLY replace the clutch assembly which is now 7 years old and check master cylinder for wear / leaks ?

We have same issue on a 9,000 mile 19 plate. Vehicle will not select any gear with engine running but turn engine off & it's fine...If Vauxhall dealership have had it umpteen times , carried out an 80 mile road test and being intermittent , not a lot I can suggest that they will not have already checked ,POSSIBLY replace the clutch assembly which is now 7 years old and check master cylinder for wear / leaks ?
If car sets off alright within a couple of miles it won't select gear i.e you can't go up or down gears & engine needs to be turned off to select a gear to limp home in!

^ did you try getting Vauxhall dealership to check your car for this fault whilst under warranty ?

I have a 2015 Corsa SE 1.2 with the same problem. On occasions will not go into gear - happens when driving and also when first starting. But will go into gear with engine off, then sometimes all is ok and sometimes not. First occurred in August 1 month after purchase. Took car to garage under warranty who said new gearbox & clutch needed. Garage I bought car from arranged independent test - no fault found. Also took car to Vauxhall dealership - no fault found. But problems have persisted. Eventually (today) called RAC who said could be a gearbox problem but obviously gearbox would need to be removed costing £££££. Has anyone found an answer?

With those intermittent faults it's very hard to diagnose . Both the independent and dealership could not replicate the fault to check out the cause .Easy for the RAC to say over the phone it COULD be the gearbox without checking , which it could be .

I purchased a 2017 Vauxhall Corsa, and after 2 weeks I have had the same issue occur twice, one occurrence being extremely dangerous on a roundabout. I then contacted the dealership to get a full refund as I am within my rights. They then proceeded to tell me how they cannot accept it without a diagnostics test as proof knowing that it wont show anything. I don’t know what to do as I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and after seeing all of your comments it seems as though this issue is completely undetectable. Can anyone please advise me on what to do next.

A clutch fault / manual gear box fault will not show up in a diagnostic scan . A lot of similar complaints with this car .

Had similar with my 2019 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4i Energy. It’s done 40000 miles so not excessive. Some days fine; other days just can’t get it in gear. One garage quoted my £800+ for new clutch but I’m dubious. Anyone found a solution?!
