Car cutting out whene driving

hi whene im driving car after certing time car just cuts out on me and wont start again if i leave maybe 5 to 10 minutes car will start again but thene will cut out again withing minutes but after it cuts out the longer i leave it the longer the car will stay going before it cuts out again makes me think that somthing is overheating like whene i first gi in car in morning will go for 20 to 30 minutes before it cuts out if i give 5 minutes will start again but cut out withing minues so longer i leave it longer it will go for withing last 3 to 4 weeks my check enginelight has been going on and off and car been reving whin sitting still this happend with old corsa and it was idle air controll valve but dont think it would make car cut out as it didnt my last corsa this only started happining yesterday eny help on this would be great thanks :)
