when driving in any gear once 2800 - 3100 revs engine stops producing power increase and engine management light comes on, when drop revs, light goes off & power returns but will not allow power back above 3100 revs which is about 55 mph in 5th gear real problem.

get the codes checked (bent paper clip) suspect its either the air flow meter(if fitted) or the throttle switch.
