2000 Vauxhall Corsa engine emissions light coming on

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.0 comfort
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I turned my engine on yesterday and the spanner light came on, indicating problems with the electrics. It stayed on so I turned the ignition off then back on. This time it went out, but the emissions light came on - as I set off I noticed the rev counter wasn't working, and the emissions light was still working. I left the car parked up overnight and when I started it today, there are no lights on and no problems with the rev counter...

Any ideas what this means? I am doing a long drive on the motorway tomorrow and really don't want to break down/blow up!

Any help much appreciated :)

Very common problem on corsas its the connection between the dash instrument panel and the wiring behind it, If it does it again (REV COUNTER INOP) Just gently push the instrument cluster with your hand and it should all start working again. For a permanant fix the instrument panel has to come out and the wiring packed out so it has a better contact, HTH.
