Gear Linkage keeps popping out

2002 Vauxhall Corsa 1.7 dti
Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.7 dti
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
The gears stop working, you can not get the car into a gear and you breakdown frequently. Have had it looked at by a local garage and today have again broken down and have had it taken to Vauxhall garage. Apparently the gear linkage is a common problem with Corsas of this year, when manufactured they used plastic ball joints instead of metal!!! That doesn't help me when the car keeps breaking down. Hopefully vauxhall garage will put new metal ball joints in to stop this happening again. Very unreliable.

yes this is very common with all the corsas and the replacement part will be about 85 plus vat and should only take about half hour to 45 mins to replace

Hi. Had the same problem with the wife's corsa. Got a replacement plastic one from Vauxhall. The same problem happened again - the plastic one isn't very good. Went online and found a replacement one from e-bay, someone called vagautomotivecomponents. Its metal, cheaper than the plastic one. Easy to fit about 45 mins, although my mate in the local garage said it'd only take 20 mins for him. Happy days, the problem's gone and the wife has stopped nagging me so much for buying her a car that broke down. :)
