the car starts fine but has began cutting out when driving now and again, it cuts out for about 4 mins then starts well and works fine then can do it again, the red battery light comes on then the car stops

crank sensor. i had same problem. you can get the part off ebay for about £15. fitting its a bit of a bugger though coz its under the back of the engine so need to get under it but if can get it on a ramp for more room to work or get garage to replace it.

Yep more than likely crank sensor, Easily replaced.
