2005 Vauxhall Corsa windscreen wipers intermittent problem

The wipers work ok when on constant. As soon as I switch the wiper arm to work intermittently the wipers sequence seem to stop the wipers half way through the cycle. So they stop and sit on the windscreen, directly in the driver’s view. Any clues/advice is very much welcomed. Thank you.

Could be faulty wiper stalk or even the motor
