very common problem is the egr valve fails to operate properly you need to go to the dealers and they will put a blank gasket on the egr and reprogramme the car then you sould have no problems with starting or cutting out as the car may even want a new egr valve aswell hope this helps
I had a similar problem on a Mitsubishi. No light came on though, it just kept cutting out when the car was not revving, i.e at traffic lights, roundabouts etc. Local garage could not figure it out. Ended up taking it back to Mitsubishi and they said it was a common problem with my GDI engine. The throttle body gets clogged up and needs cleaning. I just made sure I asked them to do this everytime I had a service and it ran fine. I would take thomkas_cars word for it, but maybe this is something worth bearing in mind.
