2000 Vauxhall Corsa over heating and power loss

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.2 c auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Great running little car until it started over heating so they replaced the water pump and it was okay but still running very hot. Then the HAAS Air Flow Meter started to make the engine light come and a drop in power at around 40 MPH. I bought one on Ebay and replaced it and it ran great again until the hotter weather came in. The car heated up to about midway on the gauge and began to sputter and lose power as if to be stalling. I got it on the motorway and as the cool air was forced in the temp gauge came down and it ran okay again. When ever it heats up ( and it does so very fast) it sputters and loses power? Can anyone help?

You could check the thermostat , Many possible causes , possible head gasket due to overheating is one other possibility .
