Is there ANY registration on the tacho when cranking?
Anything,

Or does it just not move at all?

Yes the needle moves slightly

That would indicate the crank angle sensor is working.
So next step is check for fuel/pump.
But this would go a lot quicker if you could get it scanned.

Diesel engine ? try changing fuel filter .
