2002 Vauxhall Corsa dashboard looses all power

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.2 SXi
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
While driving the car, the dashboard appears to randomly lose all power. The speedo, rev counter, fuel gauges all return to stop. The mileage display goes blank and all indication lights go off. The only light that is displayed is the 'Handbrake' warning light. After a few seconds the power will return to the dashboard and all gauges, displays and anticipated lights return to normal.

hi

i have a problem with my corsea sxi 2003 at the moment. It only happens so often. When I am driving my car, my ignition light will come on and all the needles on the dashboard e.g. the petrol light, mph temeperature will all drop to 0. Within seconds the ignition light will go off and all the needles will be fine. It only happens a few times a week not everyday. The car will still be driving when this happens.

If your dash clocks are coming and going, and also an intermittent start, the problem is due to a loose connection at the back of the dash clocks. You need to remove the steering cowling, and panels to remove the clocks to fix it. When you have the clocks out, the block connector will stay mounted in the dash. To fix the problem, remove the block connector and put 2 small pieces of foam or something similar at the sides where the block connector sits to keep it pushed out a small bit. Refit the clocks and this will solve your problem. The reason it fails to start when the clocks are not working is that the engine ECU has to receive a signal for the immobiliser which comes from the clocks. This should sort it for you :-)
