Using a lot of water, no obvious leaks ,

The wife's car, only does short journeys and is using a lot of water , can't find any leaks , have tried running engine with heater on & filler cap open to clear any blockages ,but still using a lot of water

A pressure test should show any external leaks and a block test any internal leaks .Could be water pump , head gasket ,thermostat sticking if overheating , the possibilities are endless .Carry out tests will identify cause .
