2000 Vauxhall Corsa engine noise - sounds like a diesel engine

Hi All,
My car when starting up for the first time is very silent. engine runs fine with hardly any noise. But after about 20 - 30 min of city driving with round abouts, taffic lights ( nothing unusual ) engine noise increases and it certainly sounds like how diesel engine sounds. I've checked engine oil and it was low. so i topped it up.
Any suggestions ?

suspect oil pressure problem. have the relief valve checked and also the strainer in the sump. may also be a oil pump problem. first of all have the oil pressure checked!! hope this helps!!

hi this is the problem i have with my 2004 1.2 corsa posted earlier with the click/clack noise like a diesel. mine is intermittent comes and goes, did this sort your problem? also would anyone reccomend this check for my problem due to its similarity? thankyou
