2006 Vauxhall Corsa judder/wheelspin

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.2
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Hi All,
I have a Corsa 1.2 2006. I am experiencing several problems that I believe may be related. Sometimes, selecting first is very difficult. The gear stick has to be gently encouraged into place which takes too long, especially when at a junction. Also, at any time whether that be in traffic or on a hill, but the car will start to Judders. (Only in 1st) It feels like a wheel spin but this may be the engine juddering and rocking the car. There is no way to counteract this. More or less revs/ faster slower clutch release.
I have absolutely no idea what the problem is, so can anyone suggest anythong?

Many thanks,
Tom

Excessive wear on gear linkage is a very common fault on that car .Also check engine , gearbox mountings .Gear linkage is not a major repair , replacement kits readily available .

Thanks whittingehame for your reply. However, could faulty linkage cause the juddering problem as well as the gear selection difficultly?

Gear linkage would cause selection problem .Could also be clutch needing replaced which could cause both faults .Hard to diagnose over forum without physically testing car .
