My (2000 year)1200i 16v has done only 61000 from new, if I put throttle down it loses power and an orange engine shaped light comes on with a spanner inside it.The light only stays on a while, when the light goes out it reverts back to running great until I throttle it again. The engine is in tip top condition never thrashed, runs beautiful unitl I want more ommph.

You can only reply through the forum as you have done , no private messages etc .Coil pack is a real possibility and very common .

Coil pack would be high on my list but getting it scanned is a definite right step.
These cars really only like genuine O/E coil pack and it would be bit stupid to pay all that and it turned out to be something else.
Smart move is scan it first.

My astra does the same its the map sensor/biometric sensor on mine i remove it clean it an put it back in works fine for a weeks then goes again you do use alot of fuel when the lights on so try giving it a clean or buy a diagnostic tester you can pick then up for about £30 that's half decent. try that if your a handy person an can fix it yourself if not take it to a garage will prob cost you £30 for them to just plug it in and find out what's wrong though
