2000 Vauxhall Corsa engine management light on & not running smoothly

My low mileage Corsa 2000 has developed a fault. Sits at 60 - 70 mph fine but slowing down & going down through gears engine management light comes on and it can lose power. Light goes off again when accelerating. Sometimes when stationary light comes on and engine is running faster than usual idling speed. Any ideas out there?

It looks like you need a diagnostic check. It could be number of problems.
