Hi Folks. My daughter in law has had her car since new and has never had any issues with the car. She went out the other morning to start her car, she didnt realise she had left it in gear so when she cranked it the car lurched forward. now it wont start. From my sons description of the problem i initially thought it was either the fuel pump or the immobiliser. I finally managed to get to see the car last night. When the ingnition key is turned all the normal lights come on then the airbag and immobiliser lights go out as normal so now dont suspect the immobiliser. Also heard the fule pump priming and when cranking the engine can smell fuel after a number of attempts so now dont suspect fuel either. When crankng the engine it spins no problem but there is no attempt to fire up also the engine management light stays lit. Checking under the bonnet both the breather hoses are split almost their full length but I dont think this would cause the starting problem because I think they have been like that for a while and as I said she has had nor starting/running issues until now. I have been told that it is likely the crankshaft sensor but dont want to waste money if this isnt the problem. I have been told there is a "pedal test" that can get you fault read outs. Does that test work on the corsa d 10 plate and if so how do you do the test. If it is the crankshaft sensor where is it located on my daughter in laws car as there seems to be various locations depending on the year/model of the car. Any and all help would be appreciated.

On some Corsas the crank sensor is near the drivers side driveshaft , this shows location ,

The spark plugs may be flooded , causing non start .Would be worth removing and checking .Also split hoses wont help .

Any reading on the tachometer,
it takes it's signal from the CAS,
So does the spark plugs,
take one out and re-connect to HT lead and put spark plug on engine metal and crank.
Spark?
if so then the CAS signal is being generated.
But these split hose?
Get them fixed.
unmeasured air is getting into the intake so it's going to have a very weak mixture.
Not exactly the best thing for starting.
No offense but you read old enough to remember "Choke",
and how hard they were to start back then with no choke and a clod engine.
