As above just started last night as I parked and turned main lights off, so I have disconnected lead to overhead internal light as it will not extinguish as normal but milage light on all the time now?

On a lot of cars nowadays the mileage/ dash cuts off after approx 10 mins , but varies . Is this not the same with your car possibly ?

Forgot to add , check position of any interior light switches in case may have been inadvertantly knocked on / changed ?

went out to-day and had trouble starting engine (low battery),
getting a garage to look at it to-morrow, says probably a short somewhere.

On a lot of cars nowadays the light is controlled through a micro switch in the door lock .They can stick , usually a blast with WD 40 cures them .
