Here is a write up on boot lock fault. Not sure what year your car is though.

It was the micro switch on the tailgate handle that was defective. Proved this by removing the tailgate cover (Qty 2 T-20 Torx screws) and then prizing the cover off which is held in by approx 8 clips.
This then gives access to the tailgate switch. Removed the connector ( 2-way plastic connector) and fitted a temporary micro switch to this connector. This allowed me to open and close the boot confirming the micro switch was faulty.
If you don’t have a temporary micro switch you can always just check the contact of the micro switch itself with a Digital Volt Meter to see when you press the micro switch if it changes resistance.
Removed the tailgate handle which includes the micro switch by removing the 2 nuts holding it to the body. Give a little push on both the bolts and this will overcome the glue on the securing gasket that is part of the tailgate handle.
Got a replacement part from VX £19.80 including VAT. As Kyle-SRi states above comes with a grey prima cover that can be removed. I managed this and took the original one off the faulty unit but managed to break the very small retaining clips in the process (so be careful) Stuck it back on with Super glue and appears to be OK.
Reconnected 2 way connector up and checked operation , all was fine. Put cover back on
The actual micro switch can be removed easily from the unit even without the need to remove the tailgate handle but I am not sure if VX sell just the micro switch. This would be by far the quickest and easiest way of repairing this fault if you can procure just the micro switch. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Hope this information above helps someone in the future
