hi,firstly does this have a belt or chain?which is the most expensive to repair?
im about to buy this for my wife as she needs a little runabout for work,its only done 56k so pretty good for year im just concerned about that big common fault on these ,,the timing chai..what or how am I sopposed to know if its faulty or not?before I buy it...is there any signs etc..

Timing chain fitted and is the more expensive to replace. Also suffer from camshafts/ bolts on caps .

Forgot to add early indication by rattle , excessive play on chain.

If badly worn you will get it all the time as the tensioner will be at maximum adjustment and ..chain stretched..

the chains can cause problems if you can hear it rattle do not buy car or at least get some money knocked of to cover cost of repair they all rattle a bit on first start up the tensioner is hydraulic and needs oil pressure to work main thing with these cars is to change oil and filter regular i would say every 6 months
