Is it front or rear brakes making noise ? Stripping down and cleaning out might clear noise provided pads , dics and shoes / drums are ok.

check front brakes for sticking calipers remove clean check brake pads and discs check rear brakes and check hand brake cabels are free and not sticking in guides on rear beam and check for frayed cabels best to apply grease to guides check wheel cylinders for sticking and leaks clean up drums adjust brake shoes and make sure hand brake is not set too tight

needs a bit of slack in cable if you have people in back as suspension moves down with weight it can pull on handbrake cabels and cause brakes to bind this in turn can overheat the brake fluid which then causes brake failiure

Make sure you have the correct grade of oil in your car if the oil is to thick in will be hard to start in cold weather. Make sure the air filter is clean too.

I use 5w/30 fully synthetic Halfords brand.the car is serviced every 6000 miles.it can start on first attempt in freezing temperatures and can give problems when the engine warms up.
