Oil Pressure Light flickering on when in idle, Also loss in Engine Power

1999 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Automatic
Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.2 Automatic
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi

I've had my vauxhall corsa 1.2 automatic for about two weeks now, has been fine up to now.

The oil pressure light started to flash and flicker while in idle, this is while in 'D' Drive gear. it goes out when i apply power and accelerate. Also this doesnt start to happen at the start of the drive, normally starts at about 20 to 30 mins in the drive. This started to happen yesterday, today ive noticed a loss in engine power as can only reach 50 with my foot to the floor, car also sounds slightly rougher.

Been to Halfords and brought some oil as suggested, topped up the oil but not changed it yet as car hasnt long had MOT and service, just before i got it. Would it be worth doing this?

Does anyone have any idea of the problem and how to fix it, also any ideas of the cost to fix?

Thanks for your help

Could try changing oil and filter , using good make of oil and changing oil pressure switch if needed .But with lack of power , could be engine wear .Check plugs and coil pack .

as above sounds like the best course of action switches are a problem on these cars use correct oil grade
