Whirring noise from engine

My car seems to make a whirring sound when going over 2 and a half thousand RPM. It doesn't happen instantaneously, it's normally after 10 minutes of driving. Haven't got a clue what it could be. Also when stopped after problem occurs, the engine doesn't run smoothly at all.

there's a lot of different engines fitted to Corsa's,which one?
but going on most common ie the 1.2 twin cam then I'd check the timing chain.
