2001 Vauxhall Corsa replacing tappets
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.4 sri
hi all.. my little car has developed a horrible tappet noise. so far ive done the engine flush and still the problem persists... so have decided to go with new tappets as a new car is out of the question atm... does anyone know how much a job like this would cost and what are the things i should know when having a job like this done ??

Does your car have a timing chain or cambelt ? If your engine code is Z14XEP then it has a chain.

its got a belt pre face... chain is post facelift...

All depends on who is doing job and if using genuine Vauxhal parts or not .Obviously a VX dealer will be dearer than a local , small non franchise garage .Phone about and get quotes .

Could be wrong but think £500 is pricey .

will try the hydrulic tappet stuff from wynns this wknd... will post results here... but ive got a nasty feeling i have a bent lifter or summin... if i go for a drive and the just sit in a car park after about 10 mins of sitting the tapping stops but as soon as i drive away it starts up again :( i have never spent so much money on a car... hoping most worn parts are replaced now lol...???

I had an old vw Scirroco until xmas and that had hydraulic lifters. On a good day it was as sweet as anything....on a bad day it rattled like a goodun.!!
