2000 Vauxhall Corsa car will not start

I have just changed the head gasket and the timing belt on the corsa, 1.9 straight diesel isuzu engine. Im sure i have put everything back the way it was however the car refuses to start.
When you turn the key to position one there are no dash board lights at all when you try to start the car the warming light come on for a couple of seconds and in winter that should be on for for ages! the engine will turn over but refuses to start. i have bled the diesel injectors and double checked the timing.
also when you turn the engine over for a short period the brown earth wire connected to the cylinder head gets very hot. i have had this engine apart over and over and i am stumped.
any help would be appreciated.

Possibly glow plug relay ? It's not the 1.7 engine is it .Check the earth wire is clean and tight .

Not sure from your description of fault,what was the original fault symptom. ,do you own a set of jump leads ,if so put one side onto the battery earth and the other onto a good clean engine bolt or bracket to give the engine a good earth.try starting it,Next are the glow plugs working,if your not sure check there getting power if so remove them and check that there getting a circuit,These are just pointers that i would initially check,I hope it makes sense,

get some hot air in the air intake while cranking from a hair dryer is good if she start's you have a heater plug problem probably the relay ps a smoking earth wire is not good it would be a good idea to give the engine and all the ground contact's a check over..
how long are you cranking the engine for?????
