1999 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 automatic
Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.2 automatic
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Engine management light kept coming on, mostly on acceleration. Took it to a garage, diagnosed lambda sensor. Had it replaced, still a problem, took it back, the replacement was faulty, replaced again.

Two weeks later, still a problem, today tried to accelarate on a clear road, car hesitated, then shot off.

It does this most morning from cold start, starts up fine, all lights go out, try to pull away, it falters, try to pump accelerator, no difference. Ease off the accelerator and coast, try to accelerate again, hesitates then shoots off. Sometimes it pulls away fine and smooth as it should.

Dad told me to press accelerator once before pulling away as this releases automatice choke, this make no difference either.

Am I doing something wrong?
Are the two problems related, although engine light does not come on when I pull off?

Any help will be much appreciated, as driving me loopy! Many thanks

Check plugs and if that year has a coil pack , that too. If no coil pack check / replace plug leads .Could also check engine coolant temp sensor which lets the ECU know how much fuel engine needs .

I had the same fueling problem with my old peugeot 206, I put a fuel cleaner in the petrol tank and after a few miles it cured the problem by cleaning the fuel injectors.
