Checked the connection from the throttle position sensor to the ECU ? Also this refers to an Astra pedal but might help to check out .

hi

i have an astra y reg 1.4 16v had emmision light on when i got it, faulty throttle pedal was changed. they said the one sensor on the new peddle that is half the value of the other sensor was fluctuating on idle when it shouldnt. he said it may be the ecu? what do you think?

surely its the pedal sending the readings?

when i picked it up after about 3 miles the engine managment light came on and went into limp mode. started it up again a couple of hours later light was off then after about 10 miles the light came back on.
also it is ex police:bust: and he said they have had some before with ecu problems!

would really appriciate the advice

First things first, check for continuity, short to earth and short to battery on each of the circuits from the pedal position sensor to the ecu. Then do the same for ecu to throttle body. I haven't got the specs. but check the resistance for the two sensors in the pedal, one should go up, one should go down as you press the pedal. check for resistance that don't meet the spec. or values that jump around. After that yoou'll need an OBDII data scanner.....get any Diagnostic trouble codes and check throttle postion sensor values to make sure that engine ecu is seeing throttle at idle and not partial load.

see how you go with these basic check first.
