Hard to start just keeps turning over not firing up not all the time but been doing for 3month now 2017 75000 m 1.6 cdti combo

Start then won't charge battery start then won't has the battery voltage got to be12 volts before it will start am I looking at a new battery can't think of anything else, apart prom a weird piece of cooton capock sort of stuff added to the air filter that didn't come with the new one when I come the oil change etc
