you can be driving along then vehicle cuts out and will not start, turns over okay, plenty of fuel present in filter bowl, unable to read any codes from vehicle to send me in a definite direction.can see no e.g.r. valve on this engine as i thought this could be a probable cause if it was shutting out air.anyone know of any common concerns?

Found the edu unit at rear of engine to be faulty some times working, Basically after finding i was getting air locks in the fuel system,I checked for an in tank pump does not have one it relies soley on the high pressure pump to lift the fuel, even though the filter bowl was full of fuel none getting through pipe work to the injectors,On checking sensors at the pump found edu not supplying any voltage to sensors, seems to be a common concern as plenty on e-bay.However this may help someone in the future with same concern.

You can repair the e.d.u. unit yourself.It.s basically a soldered connection that comes loose.
You have to remove it from the rear of the engine block prise open the cover you will see a soldered joint that has come away from the circuit board. You have to be very precise with this repair.Clean all the old solder from the area. Then heat up the peg that sticks through the circuit board with a soldering iron and drop a small blob of solder over it to remake the joint.Ensure its only enough to make the joint as if overdone it will damage the circuit board. Then reseal the cover back in place with silicone,Refitt unit to vehicle and thats it.Some people are charging fifty pounds for this simple repair,Soits worth the little effort doing it yourself.
