2004 Vauxhall Astra flashing dash

I recently bought this car, problems ever since drives well, but when i stop and get out of the car visit family go back to get into car all lights flashing on dash and clocks going round or moving frantically from left to right, would not start at all, so we disconnected battery and reconnected and everything worked again and car started it keeps doing this took it garage and they said they had re-wired and re-newed all fuses next day was doing exactly the same thing again now they are telling me i need a whole new dash but ive already been charged 366 quid and im not so sure that is where the problem lies. please does anyone know of what maybe causing this? would appreciate some input. thankyou

So they charged you £366 to fix car and it's still the same !!!!! I would be wanting cash back or some refund for wrongly diagnosing fault . Depends also on what they rewired to justify this charge .Would have to be a big job for that cost , but it has not fixed it .If they are not going to come and go with you on previous repair I would get another opinion from another garage of work carried out .Does the car turn over when this happens and it doesnt start ? Could be instrument cluster fault , but would be worth checking wiring / connector at back first .

When I am driving my car the interior light comes on and I have to lean over and open the passenger dooor and slamit to turn it off also it will not centrajl lock it just lights up inside and I have to keep opening and closing the door for ten mins or even longer before it eventually locks
