Hi, following ongoing problem of car not starting due to easily flooding this time car would not start again and after being towed the car now has exhaust emission light on and staying on. Could this be related to my flooding problems and if so what can be done ?

Have you tested the battery and starter ? i.e is the engine turning over fast enough on intial start? Engine flooding and unburnt fuel will cause light to come on .

Battery and starter ok Car turns over as normal. I have had this problem of easy flooding for about 9 months. Have had it at garage and they can find no problems, and do not get any codes . AA called out many times and only way to get car started is by either pushing or towing. This is the only time after happening that the exhaust emission light has appeared. I have already changed the coolant sensor and the coil pack , all to no avail. Any other ideas as to to cure problem would be appreciated . As this is a sporadic intermittent problem as you can imagine it occurs when you least want it to.

A partially blocked cat or exhaust could cause the flooding .

if you have no fault codes coming up it would suggest mechanical ie car is happy with electrics and sensors but electric/machanical may be an issue valve timing, egr injector spray patt, and maf sensor which can fault without leaving a code, needs to be put on comp and live data read to see whats happening
