car runs ok for about three miles then loses power, sometimes cuts out. check engine light says its EGR, had a new one fitted still same problem, any thoughts

Could check ignition coil pack .

i have a 2001 astra 1.6, i cannot rev past 2100 if i try the engine hunts and the car jerks back and forth. with the car park if i try to rev past 2100 the same thing happens, there is no check engine light on.
