1999 Vauxhall Astra takes ages to start once started it wont rev above 1k

car was running sort of fine,had a slight accelerating problem from time 2 time it would restict its self and not have as much power as useual a light would come on (HENCE RESTICTING)and the odd spluter now and again a friend said possible air lock and undone a screw under the fuel filter which we heard air come out since undoing the screw it cut out and took ages to start when eventually starting it would,nt rev above 1k untill we undone the injecters and a nut going from the air intake or fuel intake to the injecters then it would rev for a bit until we did them back up and it cut out we tryed this a few times untill we gave up.....any suggestions please....

youve undone the fuel filter water drain and introduced an air lock. there should be a primer pump someware on the fuel line or filter housing
pymp this until it wont pump any more,or it may have a electric primer in tank if so turn ignition on for 3 secs 6 times then it should start.if problem persists get memory in ecu read to see what codes are stored.

no luck with it starting battery keeps dying now got a mate to plug in machine its came up with various faults..... 1st 1 a earth on the engine.. 2nd 1 was something to do with fuel pipes inlet,out let around that sort of area. 3rd egr valve.. 4th fuel pump.. any other suggestions would be a great help as i cant be payin garage prices for something i could possibly do my self....

most of the fault codes that have come up will be stored from you trying to resolve the problem yourself ie undoing the fuel lines i would most likely say replace the egr valve as they common to fail if that doesnt resolve the revving problem then look at the pump could be over fueling the engine hence a fuel pump fault
