Drops out of gear (mainly 5th)

Hi, we have a 1.4 Astra manual, which drops out of 5th gear - if you hold onto the gearstick while driving, it's fine, but drops out if you let go;
Is there a simple fix for this?
Any adjustment that could cure it?

Check external linkage for wear , if not that internal g/box fault .

check the rubber bushes on the linkage are not split or worn,you will also need to check and adjust the gear linkage
