2000 Vauxhall Astra cooling fan wont kick in.

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6L

Took car in to have water pump and cam belt changed, the garage told me the cooling fan is not working ? they tell me it is operated through an ECU unit and they can not fix it ? they tell me i need to take it to my Vauxhall dealers and have them fix it, my rev counter has stopped working as well. Dont want this to be costly. any help appreciated.

Check fuses . If not that , could be coolant control module / radiator fan switch / engine coolant temp switch , whatever is fitted on that car.
