2010 Vauxhall Astra smell like burning rubber

Going by year of car , take it back to dealer for checking under warranty .

Took it to dealer but no smell that time. Did a check but couldnt find a problem. To take it back next time it smells, whenever that could be.

Can understand it's hard to find fault if you cant replicate burning smell . Is it coming from front or rear ? or perhaps from engine . Have had a few cars in with burning smell which turned out to be caused by running over plastic bags which stuck to exhaust .Most of the bag had come off , but some remained stuck on top and was hard to see .But if they have checked underneath car , unlikely on your car . Only does it on longer journeys ?

Yes, only after 30 or so miles. Seems to be from front door back the way. Doesn't appear to be from under bonnet.

Been told by one of my former mechanics that it sounds like the diesel particulate filter , ie regenerating itself , which is quite normal but apparently worrying if you dont know about it .If you had driven on a bit it would have completed the regen process .Hope this helps and puts your mind at ease.

Glad to help .The DPF gets extremely hot , cant remember the temp. and this is what you will be noticing .All the best .
