i have just tried to repair the power stering on my astra i have changed the altonater and power s pump also i have put a brand new battery on it it was fine for a while mening half hour then i left it for half hour when started it up again it started and then cut out but the power stering kept running untill i turned key off if any one has any answers i will grateful thank you

check all the fuses in fusebox and check all the wires going to the battery terminals,is the engine cranking over and not firing?

hello just to say silly me the car ran out of petrol but even so i dont think the power stering should sill be running i now have the same problem i had in the first place which is the car starts and runs and sometimes the power stering is running and all is fine but some of the time there is no p stering just engine running like i said above every thing is new i am starting to wonder if the ignition switch is going wrong thanks to simon have you got any more thoughts on what is wrong thanks budman
