2002 Vauxhall Astra lights not working

Side lights work but when turn switch to number two main beem wont work.Tried changing fuse also checked bulbs both fine.

you say number two position,don`t you mean dipped beam is`nt working.if so check all fuses and check you are getting battery voltage accross wiring connector to bulb and that you have good live and earth,

The problem is with my sons car,he has just informed me it is a vauxhall vectra not astra.Sorry about that.When the lights are on the number two position they dont work(dipped beam)full beam works normal and side lights.i have tried changing fuses and bulbs are alright.can anyone help please!
