2003 Vauxhall Astra ticking nois and engine management light

Bought this car on friday 17/07/2010, from a well known dealer. took it for a test drive first of course, asked the dealer about the ticking nois coming from th engine and was told it would go away as the vehicle had been sat for a while. drove home same day. went out sat morning only got 4 miles and the engine warning light came on and has stayed on? any ideas. the cars only got 64K on the clock

Suggest you get car back to dealer ASAP and let him fix it .Could possibly be hydraulic tappet / valve lifter .Need to get it scanned to see what codes show re.management light on but let dealer worry about it .
