2003 Vauxhall Astra clicking noise

Occasionally when I turn on the ignition there is a noticable clicking noise from under the bonnet. It also started the other day when I was in traffic.
The electronic engine cooling light has been coming on when I turn on the aircon recently.....do you think these are linked??
Is it serious and expensive to fix??

check all your fluid levels and check for coolant and oil leaks and rectify accordingly
