2008 Vauxhall Astra gearbox/clutch

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.8 Design Manual
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have a 08 Plate Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Petrol Manual. Today on starting up i found trouble engaging any gear with the engine on. But I managed to drive 35 Miles to work and the gear box eased freely with the clutch as i drove to work and on calling the RAC at work all appeared well. On beginning to leave work I had trouible engaging and changing gear but again it eased whilst travelling home. On parking up I left the car for 4 hours but then tried to engage the 1st gear and could not move the gearbox in any gear with the engine on . On switching off the engine i found i could manually move the gearbox but could not engage any gear. The clutch pedal (hydraulic) felt spongy. There was fluid underneath the car but ther was no real smell to the fluid. I recently had a service but have done 300miles since then. Any ideas?

sounds like your clutch slave cylinder is leaking, check under the car to see where the fluid is leaking,if the slave cylinder is leaking you will get a leak from the bottom of the gearbox.check your brake fluid level as well, get the clutch kit and slave cylinder changed if faulty

If it's a 2008 car ,is it not still under warranty ?
