2007 Vauxhall Astra knocking noise from alternator

after start up knocking noise occurs at low revs ,it appears to be coming from the alternator,i have been told there is a clutch system fitted to increase belt life, i suspect this is the fault. can this be easily overhauled and whats involved

it will be quicker and easier for you to fit a new alternator if you are sure thats what is knocking,if the car is still under warranty then the alternator will be covered
