2002 Vauxhall Astra engine management and alternator lights

The alternator and engine management lights come on now and again. When on, the rev counter drops to zero and the car slows down. After a while the lights go out and all is well again.If I stop and try the pedel down trick, there is no information, also my local garage put their diagnostic machine on it and got no information. Any ideas please.

had the same problem was the kmr valve, i think thats it name. cost £80 now car picks up alot easier. took a couple of goes to pick up on computer.

Might be worthwhile getting alternator output tested and alternator socket / wiring .
