ive got power to and from the fuse but heater does not work at all

replace the switch on the car as this is very common fault on the astras replace this and you will have no problems

You need to check you have power and earth supply up to the motor itself, you can access the motor from under the bonnet by removing the wiper arms and scuttle panel, the most common faults for these cars is the fan motor resistor.
