2000 Vauxhall Astra engine management light and engine failure

When slowing down at a junction or when starting car during the day all lights flash up and engine cuts out. Have run diagnostics and followed them up by changing mass airflow meter, temperature sensor and cam sensor. Spark plugs appear very sooted even though new and has a strong smell of fuel. Any suggestions on what may be the cause of the engine cutting out so often??
