2001 Vauxhall Astra misfire

i have a misfire the car vibrates on tick over but most of the time clears up but some time,like going uphill it will be very slow and have no pull about it (like its only on 3 cyclinders)iv had in the last year a egr valve from gm,2 coil packs 2 sets of plugs ,cleaned the throttle body out mint ,some times its mint but others its slow ass up hill etc then the emissions light flashes then stays on for a few days then disaperes again please help i had a diagnostic ,and it came back misfire cylinder 1 (thats when i did the plugs and coil again)but no change please help cheers dave

try a compression test. also could be a possible injector fault in that cylinder. worst case it caould be a faulty ECU...

if it was a compression fault wouldnt the misfire be there all the time?
also wouldnt an injector fault also be there constant
the misfire did disapere for a few days (when i put the new coil and plugs in) with the imisions light on then the light went out but a few days later the misfire was back i have got a very small amount of oily scum in my exspansion bottle but i only do very small jurneys thanks for the reply hope to get it sorted soon

the compression test will show you if the valves are sealing correctly and show you if you have a good seal on the cylinder via the gasket... i have experienced this misfire fault twice before.. it turned out to be head gasket degradation. so no, the misfire could occur usually when the engine is hot. when cold no problem i suspect... as for the injector, if itself is faulty then yes, it would dribble all the time, if its a faulty ecu causing that one injector to stay open too long and flood that cylinder this is also possible.. just throwing ideas around... good luck!!

the fault is more when cold than hot
iv got my father in law coming on sunday with a diagnostic
its kangarooing now on set im thinking its a injector cheers

hi iv had a diagnostic and it came up with
p0300 random/muliple misfire
p0301 cylinder 1 misfire
p0304 cylinder 4 misfire
i have put my old coil pack back on and it seams to be ok but the light hasnt gone off i have had it reset now so fingers crossed
