2001 Vauxhall Astra engine/transmission electronics light on.

Hi
The engine/transmission electronics light came on and the car now drives in limp home mode, this happens about 90% of the time but a couple of times it will be ok and the car will drive fine. just wanted to know if there are any common faults when this light comes on. Have tried using a MAC fault code reader, but that only reads engine management faults. Any help would be great,

suspect can-bus problems!!! try auto electician or agents!!!
