2006 Vauxhall Astra intermitant not starting

Put key in ingnition turn, nothimg happens engine doesnt turn no sound of any mechanical action. all electrics work fine. Engine will not turn. Leave car anything from 5mins to 2hrs then it starts fine. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be
