2002 Vauxhall Astra blue smoke

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6 club
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,
I took my car to the garage to have the tappetts replaced. Somehow they managed to do something to the head gasket and had to replace it (at their cost). They did an oil filter change.
The car has always used a lot of oil but since they did that the car used all the oil on a 500 mile trip and has blue smoke billowing out of the exhaust on start up and in traffic.
Apart from being bloomin embarrassing I am concerned they have 'done' something to my car.
They are due to have a look but I am afraid they will try and make out it is the engine and not what they have done.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex
