1998 Vauxhall Astra knocking and cracking sound from front passanger side

Hi all
Whenever i go round a right hand corner be it a full turn or a slight turn of the wheel, there is a knocking and sometimes loud cracking sound coming from under the front passanger side near the wheel. A friend noticed it form outside the car when i was turning into a car park, he said it sounded like something was loose.
i took my car for some new tyres last month (and i know they won't check properly unless payed) but the lad said he heard it too when moving it into position, but it looked fine form underneath. any ideas on what it could be

sounds like a driveshaft C.V has gone. not the end of the world to fix this.....but fix it soon, or your asking for trouble.
